Our web server automatically logs standard technical data when you visit betty-translation.com. This includes: your IP address (anonymised where possible), browser type and version, operating system, referrer URL, pages visited, time and date of access, and HTTP status codes. This processing is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interests) and is necessary to ensure the technical operation and security of the website.
When you submit a contact form, send an email, or initiate a chat, we collect the information you provide, typically including your name, email address, phone number, and the content of your message. This is processed on the basis of Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interests).
When you purchase a service, we process your name, email address, billing address, phone number, country of residence, and payment transaction reference. Payment data is handled directly by Stripe Payments Europe, Limited and is not stored on our servers. The legal basis for processing order data is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract performance).
Documents you send to us for translation are treated as strictly confidential. They are used only to provide the requested service. Translators assigned to your project sign individual confidentiality agreements. Documents are deleted from our systems within 90 days of project completion unless you request earlier deletion or ongoing storage is required for legal reasons.
We use cookies as described in our Cookie Policy. Cookies used for analytics or non-essential functionality are only set after you provide consent via our cookie banner.
We use your data to provide and manage translation services; respond to enquiries and support requests; process and confirm payments; communicate project status and delivery; comply with legal obligations; and improve our services. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes.

We share personal data only where necessary. Our translators receive your name, contact details, and the document to be translated under strict confidentiality agreements. Payment processing is handled by Stripe Payments Europe, Limited (1 Grand Canal Street Lower, Dublin 2, Ireland), which processes card data under its own privacy policy and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. We may share data with tax advisors and legal professionals where required by law. We do not use third-party marketing platforms or advertising networks.
Betty Translation is based in Germany and processes data primarily within the European Economic Area (EEA). Where data is transferred to processors outside the EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission, or reliance on adequacy decisions.
Contact enquiries not resulting in a contract are deleted after 6 months. Order records, invoices, and accounting documents are retained for 10 years as required under German commercial law (HGB). Translated documents are deleted within 90 days of delivery unless legally required to retain longer. Server logs are retained for 30 days and then deleted.
You have the right to: access a copy of the personal data we hold about you (Art. 15 GDPR); correct inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR); request deletion of your data where no legal obligation to retain it exists (Art. 17 GDPR); restrict processing in certain circumstances (Art. 18 GDPR); receive your data in a portable format (Art. 20 GDPR); object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR); and withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent (Art. 7(3) GDPR).

We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, disclosure, or loss. These include encrypted data transmission (TLS/HTTPS), access controls on internal systems, and confidentiality obligations for all staff and contractors.
